Tour de Taeru challenges you to ride 900 kilometers and climb 15.000 meters in 7 days. Each stage will offer you the most beautiful – and brutal – roads and climbs in the Ardennes and Luxembourg.

Timed sections offer you the opportunity to compete in the General Classification. You will receive professional support, including a bike mechanic. Supplies will be offered to you along the route from our van.

You will stay in the brand-new, inspiring Taeru sports hotel. The facilities include a 25-meter swimming pool, sports hall, bike storage, a bike cleaning space, professional kitchen, and relaxation areas.

Your hosts

Tour de Taeru is the joint initiative of Dirk Baelus, Bert Flier. They have previously organised successful training camps in Andalusia. Jo Zwaenepoel will assist.

Dirk Baelus is the owner of Taeru and will be your host. Dirk is a passionate triathlete since 2004, 5-times sub-9 hour Ironman finisher, the founder of Innerme, and still racing at the highest Master level.

Bert Flier is responsible for the training sessions. Bert is triathlete sinds 1990, owner of 3in1Sports, 4-time Dutch champion triathlon, and triathlon coach. He still races, and set his marathon PB at 2h38 after turning fifty.

Jo Zwaenepoel took the plunge as an independent personal coach in 2016 – with the main goal – to give people direction in their personal goals in a scientific and holistic way. Jo has a passion for health, exercise, sports and has built up his expertise in the following fields through study, reflection, experience and collaborations: training, nutrition, yoga and physiology. ‘Together with Dirk and Bert, I would like to support this event and create high-quality conditions in which every individual can realize his or her sporting ambitions. Together we will work towards realizing your objective – which is special and unique.’ Dream, believe, create, succeed.  Jo will participate Ironman Hawaii in 2024 after an age-group win in Ironman Wales 2023.

Ability level & how we will ride the stages

Tour de Taeru is aimed at cyclists of advanced levels. Each tour will have a time window of one hour within which you can start. You can choose to ride on your own, or to join forces with others. Two Taeru staff members will be on course on the bike, one will drive the van with supplies.

To fully maximize your experience, consider the following as prerequisites to participate:

  1. Having completed a 150-kilometer non-stop bike ride with at least 2000m elevation gain
  2. Being experienced with cycling in mountainous terrain, including ascending and descending

Can I bring my partner or family?

You certainly can! You are invited to your partner or family, even if they don’t want to participate in the camp itself, but just enjoy the stay at Taeru. Contact us to discuss options and prices.
