The Taeru triathlon camp will immerse you in all things triathlon. You will stay in the brand-new, inspiring Taeru sports hotel. The facilities include a 25-meter swimming pool, sports hall, bike storage, professional kitchen, and relaxation areas.

Taeru is located in the center of the Ardennes which ensures beautiful – and challenging – bike trainings. Run sessions will be organised on and offroad. For intervals, we have the option to go to a nearby 400 meter track.

The training camp includes breakfast and dinner. On the non-bike day, you will also be served lunch.

Your hosts

The Taeru triathlon camp is the joint initiative of Dirk Baelus and Bert Flier. They have previously organised successful training camps in Andalusia.

Dirk Baelus is the owner of Taeru and will be your host. Dirk is a passionate triathlete since 2004, 5-times sub-9 hour Ironman finisher, the founder of Innerme, and still racing at the highest Master level.

Bert Flier is responsible for the training sessions. Bert is triathlete sinds 1990, owner of 3in1Sports, 4-time Dutch champion triathlon, and triathlon coach. He still races, and set his marathon PB at 2h38 after turning fifty.

Ability level

The Taeru triathlon camp is geared towards triathletes of a wide range of abilities. Based on your experience and abilities, we will differentiate the training sessions. That means we will have bike and groups for different levels. Swim sessions will also be split into groups.

However, to fully maximize your experience and enjoyment at the camp, consider the following as prerequisites:

  1. Having completed a sprint distance triathlon or a longer event
  2. Being able to swim 1500 meters non-stop
  3. Ability to run 10 kilometers below 60 minutes
  4. Able to bike non-stop for 60 kilometers
  5. Being comfortable with cycling in mountainous terrain, including ascending and descending

Can I bring my partner or family?

You certainly can! You are invited to your partner or family, even if they don’t want to participate in the camp itself, but just enjoy the stay at Taeru. Contact us to discuss options and prices.

Triathlon clinics

In addition to the training sessions, the tasty meals, and a lot of fun, the Taeru triathlon camp also includes three clinics. These clinics are geared to sharing knowledge, and to increase your skill level.

On Tuesday night, we’ll have a Q&A session on ‘all things triathlon’. You can ask any question, which we will try to answer as well as possible – including practical examples.

On Wednesday, we will organize two clinics. In the morning, you can participate in an endurance run during which your lactate will be measured. The value of these readings will be discussed during a Q&A session after dinner.

After lunch, you can shave precious seconds off your transitions in a clinic in which we will have you finetune your swim-to-bike and bike-to-run transition.
